Would You Like to Adopt a Cat?

by Carole A. Lane on August 12th, 2008

catThe local animal shelters are currently overrun with animals (particularly cats and kittens), so they’re offering some great deals. Until the end of the month, the Department of Animal Services will waive all adoption fees for cats 6 months or older, and dogs 5 years or older, as well as any cat or dog that has been at the shelter for 30 days.

Better With a Buddy

If you’re determined to get a kitten, the Department has a “Better with a Buddy” program where a person can adopt one kitten under 6 months of age at the full price of $58 and adopt a second kitten at half price.

Bonuses

All animals will be neutered or spayed, microchipped and vaccinated prior to going home with their new family. Animals unable to be altered at the time of adoption require a $40 refundable sterilization deposit.

For more information on adoptions at any of the three County Animal Shelters (North, Central and South), or to view photos of adoptable animals, visit County of San Diego: Animal Services.

North County Humane Society

The North County Human Society is offering a deal of their own on cats. Any cat over a year old can be adopted for just $30 until August 23.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting a cat, and you’re sure that you can take care of one, this is definitely the best time to do it.
