The San Diego Special Edition - May 19, 2008
Welcome to the May issue of The San Diego Special Edition! We’ve got some new local bloggers to welcome this month, so please give them a read and enjoy!
business
Debra Simpson presents Microsoft’s
Office Live, Small Business Event posted at North San Diego Business@Large, saying,
“These are the four interviews with the keynote presenters at Microsoft Office Live Small Business. Interviews with John Jantsch, Duct Tape Marketing; Rich Sloan, StartUpNation; Susan Wilson Solovic, SBTV.com; and Karen Dayan, Microsoft’s Digital Media Expert.”
Debra’s interviews always add another dimension to our monthly gathering, and I really enjoy listening to them. I hope you’ll enjoy these too. Thanks, Debra!
economy
Dan Melson presents A Good Listing Agent’s Most Important Responsibility posted at Dan Melson’s San Diego Real Estate and Mortgage Website. Dan always provides excellent insights into the real estate market, and in times like these, this is a subject on a great many San Diegans’ minds.
environment
Larry Hogue presents Why Protect the Desert? posted at DesertBlog. As he describes it,
“This post considers the question: what makes the desert worth protecting? At the end, there is some information on the Sunrise Powerlink, one of the current threats to our deserts in San Diego and Imperial counties.”
DesertBlog is new to The San Diego Special Edition and I’m so glad to have Larry bringing awareness to this issue. Welcome!
family
T. Dalia presents a quick Lesson of Life posted at Daily Dalia, explaining,
“Raising Individualists has got to be one of the best lessons you can teach your child!”
human interest
Brian Brady presents In Memoriam: Lt. Col. John C. Spahr, USMC posted at Mortgage Rates Report. Brian says,
“No mortgage financing this month. A reminder that memorial Day is coming and that San Diego is home to the brave men and women who protect us. John was a Marine stationed at Miramar.”
As a military town, we probably all have friends or family directly affected by the war, so it’s appropriate and important to take time to remember and pay tribute to those who’ve fought, and those who’ve died in service to our country. Thanks, Brian.
politics
Known as Ben presents What’s in a name? That which we call a neighborhood by any other name would be as sweet posted at Fear and Loathing on Golden Hill. This is another new blog in The San Diego Special Edition, and I appreciate his taking on this controversial issue right from the start. Welcome, Known as Ben!
san diego
San Diego county is made up of so many communities, each with their own personality and style. Hearing from the locals will bring a couple of these
places to life.
Hills Local presents Brightwood Index-Editorial posted at San Elijo Life. Although this has been a very difficult housing market for so many, it’s good to hear that the new homeowners are moving into San Elijo Hills now, and that someone is taking a moment to make them welcome.
Arun presents Hillcrest, Gay People, and Arun posted at Arun is Bringing You…Your Daily Remedy. Arun always leaves us with a laugh, but beware - he’s thinking of getting a gay hairstylist. Arun, could you be any prettier?
technology
Tim Schenck presents Torrey Pines, Home to World Class Research posted at The Best Places In San Diego!. Tim’s profile of this community is the first in a series of articles that will provide background information on institutes and research companies that line the Torrey Pines Mesa.
To these, I’ll just add
Are You Tech Savvy? from right here at The San Diego Traveler. Be sure to take the quiz and let us know your score. (I’m an 11!)
That concludes this edition. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Submit your blog article to the next edition of The San Diego Special Edition using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.

hi! not exactly a comment - I’m just learning about blogs and this looks like a great roundup! I’m actually looking for an email address for you so I can send info on our upcoming shows - Broadway/San Diego presents all the national tours of great Broadway shows, and we recently added several staff blogs to our website to keep folks up to date on theatre both locally and in NYC. We also have a couple staffers who are very active on FaceBook and MySpace -they chat daily with the multitude of theatre fans and it’s been alot of fun and informative as well.
