The Jacarandas Are in Bloom

by Carole A. Lane on May 21st, 2008

Flowers from Jacaranda; Photo by Martin LaBarAs sure a sign of summer as you’ll find in San Diego county, the Jacarandas are preening, showing off their abundant blossoms in dramatic style.

These gorgeous lavender trees are native to South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, but can be found throughout the world, including Jacaranda on Panorama Drive; Photo by Allan Fergusonall over San Diego county. They’re a welcome site, so long as you don’t park underneath one in bloom. The petals are sticky and difficult to clean off of a car.

Oh well, divas like these are always a bit of trouble, but well worth it. Right?
