The Blues
I’m heading off to the Doheny Blues Festival for the weekend (totally excited), but I don’t want to leave you without any blues of your own.
On Saturday nights, from 9 p.m. to Sunday morning 6 a.m. , and again on Monday from midnight to 2 a.m., local station KSDS Jazz 88.3 FM plays the blues every week. The House of Blues Radio Hour, hosted by Elwood Blues (aka Dan Akroyd), is broadcast on 102.1 KPRI FM on Sunday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m.
On your computer, you can access MANY blues stations from across the country, listed on the Real Radio Guide. These include a local broadcast from the BellyUp in Solana Beach.
It’s not too early to get your tickets to the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, which embarks in San Diego in October heading to Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo Colima, and back to San Diego. Cabins are quickly selling out to see Taj Mahal, Elvin Bishop and the rest of the amazing lineup of talent, so you’d better get your tickets if you want to get your blues at sea this year.
If you’re reading this from anywhere else, you can find a blues festival near you by checking the Blues Festival Guide.
