October is the best time of year to head down to Julian, especially if you love apples.  Apple Days actually started at the end of September. They’re in full swing now, and will continue for the next month until November 15, with all kinds festivities planned for each day of the month.

More than ten diverse sites will be featured, culminating in a short presentation on Tiki, a cocktail party at the Bali Hai, and a chance to mingle with local historians to talk about the city’s unique Tiki Modern architecture.

Tour of Fort Rosecrans

This weekend, you’ll have the opportunity to visit one of San Diego’s most private military bases, and to view some of its most historic buildings. Among the highlights will be the 1904-1905 Colonial Revival Officers Quarters and Bachelor Enlisted Quarters, the 1919 U.S. Navy Argonaut Hall, the 1915 U.S. Army Battery White, the 1898 Battery Wilkeson and several other sites on the Point Loma Sub base.
