SD Movies in the Park kicked off June 6 with a showing of “E.T.” in Heritage Park in Old Town and continues through September 27. Movies include such box office hits as “Transformers,” “Horton Hears a Who” and “Ratatouille.” They will be shown in high-quality digital on a high resolution 28-foot inflatable widescreen for large audiences.

All movies are free, open to the public and begin at dusk. Some locations do have a parking fee. The events will also include great giveaways, family games and healthy concessions.

For those travelers who don’t want to deal with navigating these lots to find their own parking spaces, a new option is available – Valet Parking right at the curbside.

Passengers flying out of San Diego can pull into the valet area at Lindbergh Field’s Terminal 1 or 2 (noted by the SAN Park Valet signs) and check-in there. The valet will park their cars for them.

When flying back into Lindbergh Field, passengers must first pick up their luggage and pay a SAN Park cashier. The receipt can then be used to retrieve their vehicles from the curbside valet.

This service is not free. The cost is $30 per day, not including tip (as compared to $18-$24 per day for those who park themselves, depending upon the length of stay). Cheaper options are available at the privately run lots, but for travelers with a few extra bucks to spend, valet parking is a real convenience.

Other California airports already offering valet parking include San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Ana and Burbank.
