October is the best time of year to head down to Julian, especially if you love apples.  Apple Days actually started at the end of September. They’re in full swing now, and will continue for the next month until November 15, with all kinds festivities planned for each day of the month.
Wandering around Julian’s quaint shops, restaurants and wine tasting rooms is wonderful any time of year, but during Apple Days you can also see Apple Pressing Demonstrations at the Cider Mill, Gold Panning Demonstrations at Julian Mining Company or compete in the Chili Cook-Off at Pioneer Museum Park. Reuben H. Fleet Science Center invites the public to experience some of the slimiest, stinkiest and downright yuckiest creatures on earth when it unveils the all-new “ANIMAL GROSSOLOGY” exhibition on September 27, 2008.

Oozing with disgusting science and hilarious hands-on learning games, “ANIMAL GROSSOLOGY” features sophisticated animatronics and imaginative animated characters adapted from the best-selling GROSSOLOGY children’s book series by author and science teacher Sylvia Branzei. The 5,000 square-foot exhibition engages visitors in a larger-than-life look at nature’s blood-sucking, vomit-munching, slime-making and dookie-loving creatures. Fundamental educational content is provided in the form of giant 3-D book walls throughout the exhibition.
