Are San Diego’s high hotel rates keeping you from traveling to America’s finest city? Have you ever considered home swapping?

The Union-Tribune just ran an article about home swapping for travelers. They noted that there are about twice as many homes available for free stays as there were last year, if you have a home to swap. The article mentions Craigslist as one of the sites where they’re seeing this growing trend, as well as on membership-based home exchange clubs like HomeExchange.com.

If you’ve ever been to Comic-Con, you are probably aware of how difficult it can be to get a room in town during the Con. Local hotels quickly reach capacity before the convention even starts, making it difficult for our visitors coming from all over the world to attend this huge event. This also means more traffic, as attendees have to commute from increasingly longer distances to get to the Convention Center every day.

If you’ll be coming to Comic-Con International this summer, you may be wondering where you’ll find the best hotel deals. Well, the fine folks at CCI have posted a list of local hotels, along with any special rates for Comic-Con attendees on their Hotels-at-a-Glance Chart.
They’ve also started a “Staying in San Diego” blog, where you’ll find further information and updates. They are working with Travel Planners (a travel agency) to keep abreast of rooms available near the Convention Center, and you can post your comments and questions there as well.
