Long known as a party school, San Diego State University (SDSU) was the target of an undercover drug probe that culminated in the arrest of approximately 100 people, primarily students, today. The arrests were made at several homes and fraternities.
Dubbed “Operation: Sudden Fall,” the school was first targeted for investigation as the result of a student’s alcohol and cocaine overdose on Cinco de Mayo last year.
Rather than one large drug operation, the arrests were related to many smaller drug dealers selling a variety of drugs, including marijuana, ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, mushrooms, and other prescription and illicit drugs. Drugs, …read more

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo south of the border might seem like a great idea, but you should be aware that there is a current Travel Alert on Mexico, issued by the U.S. Department of State. It begins:
“Violent criminal activity fueled by a war between criminal organizations struggling for control of the lucrative narcotics trade continues along the U.S.-Mexico border.  Attacks are aimed primarily at members of drug trafficking organizations, Mexican police forces, criminal justice officials, and journalists.  However, foreign visitors and residents, including Americans, have been among the victims of homicides and kidnappings in the border region.”
