Surfing in San Diego

by Carole A. Lane on August 7th, 2007

The California Surf Museum has just announced the release of a book by John C. Elwell, Jane Schmauss, and various friends of the museum. Created in association with Arcadia Publishing, Surfing in San Diego highlights the county’s rich surfing history, colorful characters, and innovations from 1907 into the late 1960’s, featuring more than two-hundred vintage photographs.

The book is organized into geographic chapters stretching from the Tijuana Sloughs, north to San Onofre.

Surfing in San Diego is now available through the California Surf Museum and select San Diego surf shops and area bookstores, as well as Arcadia Publishing and Amazon.com. All proceeds from the book sales will go directly to help support the California Surf Museum.
