Super Duper Tuesday
This Tuesday, twenty-four states (including California), along with American Samoa are scheduled to hold caucuses or primary elections. Termed “Super Duper Tuesday,” or “Tsunami Tuesday,” this is the largest-ever simultaneous number of state U.S. presidential primary elections to be held.
When you go to vote, expect larger than normal crowds, as many who don’t usually turn out for primary elections are expected this year, since California’s primary will have far more impact than in previous years, when it came after the candidates were already determined by other states holding earlier primaries.
Record numbers of mail-in ballots are also being received, which may lead to delayed results as the ballots are counted.
The electronic voting machines are shutting down this time, returning to the paper ballots we were all familiar with, as mandated by the secretary of state.
The bottom line - be patient when you go to vote, San Diegans. It may take a bit longer than usually, but in this presidential primary, your vote really counts!
