Rock’n at the Marathon
When the 10th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon takes to the streets at 6:30 tomorrow morning, 43 local bands will be there to cheer the 20,000 runners on and rock the crowd!
All along the 26.2 mile marathon route from Balboa Park to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, you’ll find bands assigned to specific locations and time slots. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon without the Elvi running, stopping to perform along the way. The music is every bit as much a part of this event as the athletes.
(Click on the map to see both the route and the band locations.)
After the race, enjoy more music at the post-race show. At 6 p.m., the gates of Cox Arena will open for a free concert for the runners and volunteers. (All others will pay $25 for admission.) Shane Alexander will perform at 6:30, followed by the awards ceremony at 7:20. The day of rock will finish with a performance by Seal beginning at 8 p.m.
Rock on, San Diego!
