Padres Special Events Planned
Are you ready for some baseball? The Padres are in spring training today in Arizona, but they’ll soon be back with us in San Diego on Friday, April 6 when the Padres’ season opens against the Colorado Rockies at PETCO Park. (See the Padres schedule.)
If you’re planning a little stadium time, check out these Padres special events. In addition to baseball, hotdogs, and the seventh inning stretch, you can be there for special opening nights for Military (April 7) or Mexico (April 28).
Some upcoming games have themes like 70’s Retro Night (May 11), 80’s Retro Night (June 22), and 90’s Retro Night (September 14), each complete with a post-game concert. (How can those all be “my era?”)
Teacher Appreciation Night will be held on May 15 this year, and a salute to the Negro Leagues is scheduled for June 23. If you attend either of these events, you’ll also receive a pin to commemorate the occasion. Mother’s Day pins will be given out on May 13.
On May 26, come early for the Padres Fourth Annual Action Sports Day to watch a pre-game demonstration featuring TNT Free-style Moto-X performed by some of the world’s top Moto-X riders.
An Independence Day Celebration is (of course) on July 4, but fireworks displays won’t be limited to that night. Many of the Padres’ games will be celebrated with Family Fireworks.
August 17’s Mexican Fiesta game will continue into the night with a post-game “Park at the Park” Concert.
If you’re hoping to get your photo taken with one of your favorite players, Padres Photo Day will be held on May 27, and Junior Padres Photo Day is scheduled for August 18.
If your favorite player is Tony Gwynn, come on July 21, when San Diego will be celebrating his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame with a pre-game “Tribute to Tony.”
Putting the PET back in PETCO, on August 14th, the Padres celebrate the Dog Days of Summer, with a special appearance by the San Diego Chicken. You can even your dog to the game on that day.
Are you all about the swag? There’s a full schedule of Padres’ promotional items to be given away at games throughout the season. These include baseball caps, gloves, mini-bats, batting helmets, and jerseys. There are also giveaways of t-shirts, sports bags, knit caps, “color me” pennants, backpacks, visors, floppy caps, hacky sacks, photo calendars, hot wheels, magnets, yo-yos, photo frames, trading cards, storage cubes, beach blankets, lunch boxes and desk clocks.
With all of these exciting events, Padres baseball, and giveaways, let’s just say PETCO Park: Come for the baseball; stay for the party!
