New Year’s Eve - For Children

by Carole A. Lane on December 29th, 2007

fireworks_miniland.jpgMidnight strikes at 6 p.m. in LEGOLAND® California with Kids’ New Year’s Eve, a festive celebration that kids can enjoy without missing bedtime. Like the famous

Times Square party, Kids’ New Year’s Eve features a countdown followed by a huge LEGO® brick dropping 22-feet into 2008 along with a dazzling fireworks display over Miniland. The event also features a special performance by kids’ pop-rocker Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players.

meltdown Hailed by The New York Times as “a rising star in the world of children’s music,” Roberts has quickly become one of the hippest artists on the children’s music scene.  Roberts and his band, the Not Ready for Naptime Players, will treat revelers to a concert, featuring songs from their latest album, Meltdown as well as many old favorites. With high-energy tunes spanning genres from rock and roll to Afro-pop rhythms combined with hip, sophisticated lyrics, Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players performance will be fun for children and parents alike.   Kids’ New Year’s Eve festivities begin at 3 p.m. when kids are invited to share their New Year’s resolutions on stage in front of friends and family. At 4 p.m. Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players take the stage for an interactive concert where kids are encouraged to dance and sing to the music. All mini revelers will be given party noisemakers, glow-in-the-dark necklaces and special fireworks viewing glasses.  More than a celebration to ring in 2008, LEGOLAND California’s Kids’ New Year’s Eve marks the last chance for families to see the world’s largest LEGO Christmas tree, at least until next year. More than 245,000 forest green DUPLO® bricks click together to create the 30-foot tall holiday tree which can only be seen at the 128-acre family theme park in

Carlsbad.  For the fifth year in a row, the LEGO brick tree towers over the entrance to LEGOLAND adorned with more than 240 ornaments and 100 holiday candles, all built in LEGO basic brick.  All Kids’ New Year’s Eve festivities are included in the price of admission.
