New Direct Flights Offered in San Diego
If you live in San Diego county, and do any air travel, you’ve probably discovered that the vast majority of the flights to and from San Diego include stops in destinations you had no intention of visiting. Generally, flights out of San Diego go directly to Los Angeles, Phoenix, or some other “hub” city, where you’ll sit through a layover of two or (sometimes many) more hours before boarding another plane to your real destination.
Beginning today, there are nine more cities that you can fly to directly. ExpressJet Airlines has begun ticketing for non-stop service from San Diego International Airport (Lindbergh Field) to the following cities:
- Bakersfield, CA
- Fresno, CA
- Monterey, CA
- Boise, ID
- Colorado Springs, CO
- Spokane, WA
- Omaha, NE
- Oklahoma City, OK
- Tulsa, OK
There are actually thirty-seven other cities that you can already fly to directly, at least part of the time:
- Albuquerque, NM
- Atlanta, GA
- Austin, TX
- Baltimore, MD
- Boston, MA
- Chicago, IL
- Cincinnati, OH
- Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
- Denver, CO
- Detroit, MI
- El Paso, TX
- Houston, TX
- Kahului, HI
- Kansas City, MO
- Las Vegas, NV
- Los Angeles, CA
- Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN
- Nashville, TN
- New York, NY
- Oakland, CA
- Phoenix, AZ
- Portland, OR
- Sacramento, CA
- St. Louis, MO
- Salt Lake City, UT
- San Antonio, TX
- San Francisco, CA
- San Jose, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Tucson, AZ
- Washington, DC
- Cancun, Mexico
- Los Cabos, Mexico
- Mexico City, Mexico
- Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
- Toronto, Canada
- Vancouver, Canada
The best way to find these flights is to review the Printable Timetables, available in the Flight Planner from the San Diego Regional Airport Authority. (Nonstop flights are in boldface, with 0 Stops.)
You can also look up individual flights on the San Diego Online Timetable.
The San Diego International Airport PC Travel Desk is free software available for download so that you can do your own travel planning on any PC.
If you can’t find a nonstop flight that will take you where you want to go, look on the bright side - indirect flights will usually save you some money.
