Music History in San Diego
The San Diego Reader has just published a very cool article:
Their picks include Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, The Doors, the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Ramones, The Police, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Oingo Boingo, Nirvana, Jethro Tull, Pearl Jam, Snoop Dogg, Nelly, and more. The performers date all the way back to Jelly Roll Morton in 1917 and up to U2 in 2005!
The only downside to the article is the number of notable performances that weren’t included. It’s an impossible task to list every amazing band that has performed in the county, and I’m sure that some of your favorite performers were missed, as were mine. That’s a given.
The best part of this article is definitely the stories, revealing a very human side to many of these performers. This is a must-read to all music fans, as well as San Diego history buffs.
