More Good News for San Diego Chocolate Lovers
This week, Larry Himmel’s “In The Neighborhood” report featured a profile of chocolatier Will Gustwiller at Eclipse Chocolat in University Heights. This is no ordinary chocolate cafe. It’s a bit of heaven for any true chocolate lover!
Watch the video, showing Gustwiller’s Winter Dessert Tasting Platter. It includes:
Grilled Orange-Peel Date Bar with a little coconut-infused cream
- Forbidden Rice Pudding, made with black Chinese forbidden rice
- Frozen Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse
- Sticky Toffee Pudding with Bourbon Caramel Sauce
Yummmm! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!
To say these chocolates are exotic is an understatement, with bars made with Kyoto Greet Tea, Chile Hazelnut, Moroccan Spice, Sweet Basil-Mint and Sea Salt (but not all together)!
Eclipse will host a special Valentine’s dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings (February 14 and 15), which will include a five-course dinner:
- Buttermilk Biscuits with House-made Cocoa-nib Butter
- Chocolate Crepe with Creme Fraiche & Mushroom-Marsala Sauce
- Soup Duo of Chilled Vichyssoise & White Chocolate Leek
- Salade of Grapefruit Supremes & Fennel with Cocoa Vinaigrette
- Brie en Croute with Cocoa Veal Sauce (vegetarian sauce option)
- Raspberry-cocoa Nib Plombiere
- Optional Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie Platter, and Speciality Drinks Available
If you can’t make it to Eclipse, their chocolates and truffles are also available at several San Diego retail
locations.
You can even visit Eclipse Chocolat blog to see the latest news and vote on new confections. I love paging through the pictures and the descriptions of all of the goodies, but I’d love an Eclipse gift certificate for Valentine’s Day even more (hint, hint…)
