Gaslamp Mardi Gras - Fat Tuesday

by Carole A. Lane on February 4th, 2008

Tomorrow is not only “Super Duper Tuesday,” (the day on which the largest-ever simultaneous number of state U.S. presidential primary elections will be held). It’s also Fat Tuesday, known as “Mardi Gras,”  “Shrove Tuesday” and “Pancake Day,” but whatever you call it, it’s a celebration.

This year, the gates open to the Gaslamp Mardi Gras at 6pm, with festivities continuing until midnight. These include:

  • Two Masquerade Parades, at 7:30 and 10pm, featuring a hilarious procession of floats, fire trucks, and busloads of beads!
  • Ten stages and entertainment lounges
3 Stages with 3 Styles of Mardi Gras Party:
    Carnivale di Venezia
    Rio de Janiero
    Caribbean Trinidad & Tobago
  • DJ’s, Bands, and Dancing in the streets
  • 50 participating Restaurants, Bars & Nightclubs
  • Southern Comfort Hurricanes & Frosty Heinekens

Since the Street Scene left the streets of San Diego, this is the biggest party in the Gaslamp all year!

Have a great time partying in the Gaslamp tomorrow, but first, don’t forget to vote!
