Free Museums in San Diego
If you’d like to participate in Museum Month, but can’t afford the price of admission, even at half price, don’t give up.
Some of San Diego’s museums offer free admission all year round:
- The California Surf Museum
- Casa de Estudillo
- First San Diego Courthouse
- Mason Street School
- Robinson-Rose House
- The San Diego Firehouse Museum
- San Diego Union Museum
- Seeley Stables
- Sheriff’s Museum
- Timken Museum of Art
- United States House
- Wells Fargo History Museum
- Wrightington House
Other museums are free on Tuesdays.
On the first Tuesday of every month, these museums are free to San Diego County residents and active military:

- San Diego Museum of Art
- San Diego Museum of Man

On the fourth Tuesday of every month, these museums are free to San Diego County residents and active military:
- San Diego Air & Space Museum
- San Diego Automotive Museum (last admission 3:45pm)
- San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum
while this museum is free to everyone:
You should note that some museums may offer complimentary admission to their permanent collections only, and charge admission to special exhibitions or films.
