Disco Babies!
I was reading the Seattle Traveler the other day, and I came across an article entitled “Baby Loves Disco - Mommy & Daddy, Too.” I was intrigued.
The article was about disco nightclub play dates for toddlers. The concept originated in Philadelphia, when a professional dancing
mom first arranged for monthly afternoon disco events for preschoolers (to age 7) and their parents. It sold out, and the idea quickly spread to other cities across the country. There’s even been a Nightline segment on these parties.
What a fun idea, 70’s and 80’s music, disco balls, shaking your bootie with your friends and their kids. There are sometimes surprises for the parents, such as facials and massages, as well as bubble machines, baskets of scarves and egg-shakers for this younger set. Healthy snacks are available for everyone. I was jealous. Why don’t we have a Baby Loves Disco in San Diego?
Guess what….We Do!
San Diego’s own Baby Loves Disco has recently been held in the W Hotel, but will be moving to Aubergine on 4th on May 6th and June 10th (from 2-5 p.m.). If you plan to take your child, be sure to purchase your tickets soon, as these events tend to sell out.
My teenager loves to tease me, asking if all the “hippies” liked “disco.” Clearly he has his decades confused, and I’ve obviously neglected key areas of his education. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Teach your toddlers to shake their groove thing TODAY! Rumor has it Baby Loves Disco.
