CouchSurfing San Diego

by Carole A. Lane on September 9th, 2008

CouchSurfing Are you looking for a different type of travel adventure - one where you stay with the locals rather than at an expensive and impersonal hotel?

Inspired by an article I was reading in Europe String, I decided to check out the CouchSurfing Project.

It’s not about the furniture, and it’s not just about free accommodations…

“it’s about participating in creating a better world. We strive to make a better world by opening our homes, our hearts, and our lives. We open our minds and welcome the knowledge that cultural exchange makes available. We create deep and meaningful connections that cross oceans, continents and cultures. CouchSurfing wants to change not only the way we travel, but how we relate to the world!”

There are safety procedures in place in which members vouch for other members, creating a circle of safety, and you can find fellow CouchSurfers all over the globe, including here in San Diego County.

On your next trip to San Diego, or elsewhere, why not give CouchSurfing a try?
