Chinese New Year Celebrations

by Carole A. Lane on January 8th, 2008

If you’re looking around for a place to celebrate the Year of the Rat, (or if you missed the American Chinese Culture and Education Foundation’s celebration last weekend) try one of these gatherings, and Gung Hay Fat Choy to you!

Chinese New Year Spectacular will be held next week (Tuesday - Thursday, January 15-17) at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido:

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) has been successfully hosting Chinese New Year events for the past 4 years. The Chinese New Year Spectacular is an important platform for celebrating the Chinese New Year and appreciating Chinese traditional culture and arts, featuring world-class performances of both Chinese and Western traditional artistry as recognized by many political leaders, business executives and various associations.

If you can’t make it to the spectacular, the 2008 Chinese New Year Fair, hosted by the San Diego Chinese Center, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 16-17 at Third Avenue and J Street in the Asian Historic Thematic District of San Diego.

For other ways to commemorate the year 4706 (which actually starts on February 7th), see Chinese New Year Traditions.
