Calling All Kite Lovers

It’s time for the San Diego Kite Club’s big celebrations!

dragon_trophyOn December 31 the Annual Fighter Kite Challenge will be held at Mission Bay Park.  This event has drawn many of the best Fighter Kite enthusiasts from the west coast and beyond.  Whether you’re a Novice or Master, or just a spectator, you can see the best of the best battle for the championship.

This year, the winner will receive a really cool paper dragon sculpture built by Dave Corning (pictured above).

octopus - Photo by Dave & Iris Corning This will be followed by the San Diego Kite Festival and potluck on New Year’s Day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mariner Point (off West Mission Bay Drive).  The day will include free flying, potluck, sport Kite demonstrations, a loud auction, and a raffle.
