A Life-Sized Candy Land Game in Poway!

by Carole A. Lane on December 14th, 2007

candy-lane.pngHere’s an unusual holiday celebration. On Saturday, December 15, the Poway Community Park will host a reenactment of the Candy Land game! (I hope someone posts pictures of this one!)

Children and adults can play the supersized game that takes players through a world of sweets, including the Molasses Swamp, the Peppermint Stick Forest, and Gumdrop Mountain. The game’s board will be laid out on the floor of the Poway Community Center. Actors dressed as fantasy characters are stationed at various points along the way to hand out free candy. (The event is best suited for children ages 2 to 10.)

The festival’s biggest attraction is a 25-ton snow hill, suitable for sledding, snowman-making and snowball-tossing.

There will also be a Home Depot craft area where children can make holiday decorations and crafts.

Live entertainment includes face-painters, balloon-makers and kiddie karaoke. Of course, Santa Claus will be on hand to take gift requests too.

Tickets are $5 for children and $1 for parents.

Poway Community Park is located at 13094 Civic Center Drive in Poway. For information, call (858) 668-4570.
