On Saturday (March 1), colorful kites will fill the skies of Ocean Beach at the 60th Annual Ocean Beach Kite Festival and Craft Fair. This is known as the oldest kite festival in the United States.
This event offers carnival rides for children, home-made crafts, the Ocean Beach Kite Parade, music, and free hot dogs, popcorn, and punch. Come and construct your own kite in the morning, and enter it in the best kite contest at 1pm.

On Tuesday evening, I attended the latest San Diego Blogger MeetUp, held at Cafe Bassam, along with twenty or so local bloggers. It was the largest, and most lively MeetUp to date, with an energy matched by the location.
I love the Cafe Bassam. It’s one of those quirky coffee houses with a treat for the eyes or the taste buds in any direction you face. The staff are friendly and laid back, and and you won’t go there twice without making a friend.

This Saturday, head to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts for “A Cultural Extravaganza Featuring Dances from Several Regions of India.”
Unity in Diversity is presented by San Diego Indian American Society. It is a widely used  phrase to describe India, which is home to a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-religious society. The philosophy is the underlying pan-Indian philosophy echoed in textbooks throughout India.
The theme of Unity in Diversity has spread to churches of many faiths, and is now celebrated throughout the world.

Hearing about the 15-foot waves that were expected yesterday along the coast, we headed for the beach to see if we could bring some of that back to you. Well, we picked the wrong beach, at least to see the 15-footers.
Ocean Beach reported 15-foot waves  around 3 yesterday afternoon, while we were looking at the gorgeous views from Sunset Cliffs (a bit further south).
Sunset Cliffs Park lies on 68 acres of bluffs and walking paths high above the Pacific. There’s a long staircase that

Today, tomorrow and Sunday, the Silver Bay Kennel Club of San Diego will hold their all breed dog show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Come to see the Agility, Rally and Obedience Trials. Admission is free!
Hundreds of dogs will participate, cheered on by thousands of dog lovers and fans.
The Silver Bay Kennel Club Dog Show is one of the largest in the United States.

With the median San Diego County home price teetering around $429k, you may think that there are no more real estate bargains to be found. Not so!

The Easter Seals of Southern California present the 3rd Annual Churchill’s Pub & Grille Charity Golf Tournament this Saturday, February 23.
At this event, Tournament participants will spend the day having fun with friends while helping a great cause.  On the program is a four-man scramble, A, B, C, D class, as well as lunch, putting, chipping, and longest drive contests.  A 19th hole auction, raffle prizes and celebration follow the tournament on the Eagle Crest Golf Club Patio in Escondido.
