Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday
On Sunday, January 20, the Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon will begin at Westfield Plaza Camino Real in Carlsbad.
Marathon Start Times:
5:30 a.m. Marathon Walk Start
6:30 a.m. Marathon Early Start
7:30 a.m. Marathon Regular Start
Awards:
In recognition of their accomplishment, all Marathon finishers will receive a beautiful medal after completing the marathon. In addition the awards will be presented at the post-race awards ceremony to the following: The first three finishers, male and female, in the following age groups: 17 & under, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+. Keebler Kids Marathon Mile on Saturday, January 19
Keebler Kid Marathon Mile is a non-competitive one-mile run/walk through LEGOLAND. All ages are welcome! Registered participants (except those registered as a companion) will receive an event T-shirt and be treated to refreshments, fun activities, entertainment and more!
Time:
6:30 a.m. LEGOLAND parking lot opens
7 a.m. Event day registration
8 a.m. Mile races start
Immediately following the kids’ races, the event stage will feature entertainment, diaper dashes and fun activities.

Recycle Your Electronics
On Saturday, January 12, join I Love A Clean San Diego, 10 News, California Department of Toxic Substances and Recycle San Diego for Sustain San Diego’s first E-Waste Recycling Event of 2008!
E-waste is electronic waste. It includes things like old phones, computers, printers, and televisions. Electronics like these contain hazardous substances, and should not be disposed of in the regular trash. They need to be taken to sites that can take extra care in their disposal.

Tall Ships Docking in Oceanside
On Thursday, the Lynx, a replica of a naval topsail schooner from the War of 1812, sailed into Oceanside Harbor. As the Lynx Educational Foundation describes her:
Lynx is an interpretation of an actual privateer named Lynx built by Thomas Kemp in 1812 in Fell’s Point, Maryland. She was among the first ships to defend American freedom by evading the British naval fleet then blockading American ports and serving in the important privateering efforts.
33rd Annual Concert of Philippine Dances & Music
This Saturday and Sunday, the Samahan Filipino American Performing Arts & Education Center proudly presents a celebration of the Philippines. This annual event was rescheduled due to the fires, but will be held this weekend at the Joan B. Kroc Theater.
This two hour program of popular dances choreographed for theater will showcase the dance company’s youthful, highly trained dancers & musicians in beautiful, vivid & colorful costumes.
