Hotel Del Coronado to Host Celebrations All Season

Guests staying at the hotel can enjoy a variety of activities including Santa’s surrey-sleigh rides through Coronado Island, cookie decorating, holiday crafts for kids, Tent City Kids’ Camp with holiday scavenger hunts and family s’mores roasts. Little ones love the ‘Elf Tuck-Ins’ where they are visited by real elves at bedtime!

But you don’t have to stay overnight at the Del to join in on the fun.  There are even more festivities planned for anyone who wants to come down for the day or evening:

Holiday Festival

On Wednesday, November 28, The Del will feature a special event for the whole family – Holiday Festival…A Family Celebration. In addition to the outdoor ice-rink, kids of all ages holiday-lights-at-the-del.jpgcan visit with St. Nick and his elves at Santa’s Village and enjoy holiday booths with games and prizes. The resort’s 100,000 twinkling white lights will provide a magical backdrop for the evening’s festivities:

4-5 p.m. – Students will perform holiday favorites on stage in the Grand Ballroom.

skating-by-the-sea.jpg4-7 p.m. - The Vista Walk will be transformed into Santa’s Village, offering photos with Santa and his elves. And, complimentary holiday games and prize  booths are featured on the Sun Deck.

4-9 p.m. - Outdoor ice-skating will be offered on The Del’s beachfront ice rink, located on the Windsor Law.

6:15 p.m. – A special holiday fireworks display will light up the sky.

Skating by the Sea

For the third year, the Hotel del Coronado will offer a unique Southern California experience – outdoor ice-skating overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Three-hour skating sessions offered daily
2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Matinee sessions from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays

December 17 – January 1, 2008

All three skating sessions offered daily.
3-hour sessions: $20 adults, $15 kids (ages 10 and under)
2-hour matinee sessions: $15 adults, $10 for kids (ages 10 and under).
Skate rental is $5 per person.

* A portion of the 2007 skating proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of San Diego.

An American Christmas

The Del is pleased to present the annual production An American Christmas, performed by the award-winning Lamb’s Players Theatre. Each evening , the “Marshall family,” played by over 30 versatile performers, throw open the doors to the Ballroom and invite their guests to enjoy them for a heartwarming feast and celebration set exactly one hundred years ago. Beginning with hors’doeuvres, the Marshalls entertain their guests with stories, songs, dance, and holiday cheer, all woven around a sumptuous four-course yuletide dinner prepared by The Del’s master chefs. San Diego Magazine calls An American Christmas “a perfect melding of food, ambience, and showmanship.”

Victorian Tea

November 23 – December 31
As a special treat for tea lovers, or those who just want to relax and enjoy holiday piano entertainment, The Del serves Victorian Tea daily. Ladies and gentlemen, mothers and daughters and good friends enjoy this charming tradition.

Christmas Dining

crown-room.jpgCelebrate Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with delicious dining options in the Crown Room or oceanfront Ballroom. Each venue features classic holiday buffets along with caroling and entertainment.

For a more intimate celebration, both 1500 OCEAN and Sheerwater offer special holiday menus for your family and loved ones.

New Year’s Celebrations

The Ballroom features a lavish dinner, champagne toast and dancing. 1500 OCEAN in the perfect energetic nightspot to ring in 2008. Special parties are available for kids and teens. And, January 1st is kicked-off right with the annual New Year’s Day champagne brunch in the Crown Room.
