According to Mayor Sanders, San Diego is now moving from emergency to recovery. All areas of the City of San Diego have been reopened for residents to return to their homes (if they’re still habitable).

The Local Assistance Center in Rancho Bernardo (located at Rancho Bernardo Glassman Recreation Center, 18448 W. Bernardo Drive in Rancho Bernardo) opened yesterday, and will serve as the official starting point for families disrupted by the fires. It will serve residents of Escondido, Poway, Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Bernardo and other nearby areas. 

The Local Assistance Center will have representatives from local, county, state and federal agencies on hand to help fire victims begin to move forward. About 50 to 60 agencies will be represented at the center, and insurance companies will have their mobile units set up outside the recreation center to work with residents as well.

Other Local Assistance Centers are slated to open at:

• Ramona Community School, 1710 Montecito Road in Ramona
• Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane in Fallbrook
• Rancho San Diego-Cuyamaca College, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway in El Cajon

Qualcomm Stadium will close by noon Friday. The American Red Cross will assist all remaining evacuees, relocating them into shelters closer to their homes, or to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which has better facilities than Qualcomm Stadium offers.
