Finding Loved Ones Who Have Been Evacuated
If you’re trying to find someone who has been evacuated due to the San Diego County fires, check the Red Cross’ Safe and Well List. If you don’t find your loved ones on the list, don’t panic. They may not have had time or Internet access in order to register.
Your next best option is probably to call their cell phone, but they’re asking that San Diegans stay off the cell phones if possible, in order to leave the lines open for emergencies. You can try text messaging a loved one that you’re trying to locate; the text may go through even when a voice call won’t.
If your family members have been moved from Pomerado Hospital to other hospitals, you can call (858) 613-4000 to find out where your loved ones have been transferred.
If you’re successful in communicating with a loved one in the fire areas, be sure ask them whom to notify for them, so that they can stay off the phone.
