Models Wanted

If you’re a gorgeous model looking for a job on television, come to the Stingaree tonight. “Deal or No Deal” will hold an open audition for next season’s models starting at 6 p.m.
Casting calls have already been held in Los Angeles and Newport Beach this week, and San Diego will complete the calls.
If you’re unable to attend, you can submit a 5-minute personal videotape, along with an application by mail.
New episodes begin airing in the fall.

This is the last weekend of the San Diego County Fair, so if you haven’t gone yet, now’s the time.
In addition to the usual attractions (SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, LegoLand, Balboa Park, Old Town, the beach), here’s a sampling of what you’ll find around San Diego county this weekend:

When you think of San Diego’s Airport, you probably think about Lindbergh Field.  It occurs to me that travelers (and many residents as well) are probably not familiar with all of San Diego county’s airports.  There are actually an even dozen public airports, and many other military and private facilities.  Starting with the largest and most famous airport, followed by the others alphabetically, here’s the rundown of all of San Diego County’s airports.

Today, Mayor Jerry Sanders announced the formation of CleanTECH San Diego, a non-profit trade association that will foster and build an energy and environmental technology cluster in the greater San Diego region. 
Mayor Sanders said,
“CleanTECH San Diego will nurture and accelerate the growth of companies with environmentally friendly technologies and foster sustainable development and green enterprises. That will allow San Diego to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, combat the effects of global warming and create cleaner, safer workplaces and living environments.”

What Does the Community Think About VUSD’s Hiring Practices?

I’ve written about Vista’s temporary teachers losing their jobs, warned new teaching applicants to stay away from Vista, and documented what the Vista Teachers Association thinks of VUSD’s hiring practices. 
But what about the community?  What are they saying about Vista Unified School District’s hiring practices?
At the June 14th VUSD Board meeting, the community was very vocal en masse, starting with the buttons handed out and worn by hundreds of attendees.
