It’s Time to Get Your Elvis On!
The Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon is coming to town on Sunday, June 3rd, but not all runners will be suiting up in shorts and t-shirts.
Elite Racing, the organizers of this event, are attempting a different type of racing World Record. They are recruiting Elvis Impersonators, both male and female, to take part in an Elvis Challenge, running in full Elvis running suits and wigs. They hope to find at least 50 “Elvi” to set the World Record.
Elvis Benefits
There is no registration discount for Elvi, but they are eligible for prizes. The Best Dressed Elvis and the top 3 fastest Elvi will each receive a rockin’ Gold Record.
A group photo will be taken before the race, and there will be a special Elvi Tent in the Family Reunion Area of the Finish Line Festival for all Elvi to gather and share their experience.
Costumes
Special, custom Elvis running uniforms can be purchased for $110 from Misty Johnson at misty820@aol.com, or you may make your own. Special Elvis wigs, glasses and other accessories can be purchased online or at most local costume shops.

That’s insanity run amok!
Thanks for confirming the plural of Elvis though. I’ve always wondered.
Polliwog – Doesn’t this sound like fun?! We have so many marathons here in San Diego county, I think the Elvis impersonators really add something to this. Of course, it’s appropriate, being the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon too.
I’ll try to get some pictures of them to put up. I hope they break the record.
Jami,
You’re absolutely right, but that’s the way I like my insanity to run. How about you?
As for “Elvi,” you’re welcome, but the “Flying Elvises” would probably argue the point.
I just read about San Francisco’s Bay to Breakers run (http://www.sanfranvoice.com/our-first-california-blog-carnival/) and guess what – They have Elvi of their own!
Must be a California thing. Makes me wonder what they do in Memphis.
