Come to a Street Party
This week’s Carnival of Cities is being hosted by Walkable Neighborhoods, and the theme is “A Street Party,” so get ready to join the fun. I’ve decided to give my personal awards for my favorite articles this week. Drumroll please…
The most thematic post of the week goes to “Dance Parade 2007 Hits New York City” by shedwa (Shawn Waite) at shedwa. I love to start a carnival with a little song and dance, and this video has it all. For another kind of street party, the runner up is Sheila Scarborough at FastMachines. Her article “Racing Through Charlotte“ provides the top racing-related destinations to visit in the Charlotte region.
The winner of the most Walkable Neighborhood should go to “Walking Downtown Christchurch” by Liz Lewis at Christchurch Tour Guide. Bella’s entry “Walkable Neighborhoods” in Carolina Beach at Bella’s Life on the Island wins runner up. Of course, I’m partial to anyplace with “Carol” in the name (even when they spell it wrong – without the “e”). Honorable Mention to “Old Pitt Street Bridge,” by Jaz at Wicked Winter.
The Carolinas are very well represented at this week’s carnival, but there are many other excellent articles from around the U.S. and the world, so please do visit the Carnival of Cities to read them all (including mine). Next week’s carnival will be hosted by The Where Blog. For past and future city carnivals, see Home Turf Media’s Carnival site.
If you’re one of our talented San Diego bloggers (or bloggers with a San Diego story), you’re also invited to participate in the monthly carnival, The San Diego Special Edition. I hope to see you there.

I really enjoyed your article, Liz. If I lived in Christchurch, I’d want to walk everywhere.
