Gates and Jobs, Together Again

When Steve Jobs (founder and CEO of Apple) and Bill Gates (founder and Chairman of Microsoft Corp.) appeared together at D5 in Carlsbad this week, even at $4000 a seat, it was a sell-out crowd.
D5 is the fifth year of Wall Street Journal’s “D: All Things Digital” conference, which was held at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara.  Other […]

Kim’s Vietnamese Noodle House

If you like Vietnamese food, here’s a restaurant that you’re likely to overlook, but shouldn’t.
Kim’s Vietnamese Noodle House is a little dive tucked into an ugly strip mall in San Marcos.  They may not look like much, but their menu boasts over 200 items, and from my sampling, I’ll bet they’re all good.

The Top 5 Writing Project (part 2)

A couple of weeks ago, I participated in Problogger’s most recent writing project, the “Top 5.”  This was a fun topic, and easy to adapt to so many subjects.
Of course, you’re welcome to read all 893 entries (yes, that’s right - 893!) in the Top 5 project, but from time to time, I’ll handpick some posts that I […]

Burritophile has listings for restaurants in many cities across the country.  The San Diego section currently includes listings for over 60 restaurants, but not all of them include reviews, while some contain multiple reviews.  Clearly this site is evolving.
If […]

With Apologies to Chocolate Lovers Everywhere

Dear Chocolate Lovers,
I’m sorry.  So deeply sorry.
Sincerely,
Carole
I was so excited about Vista Village Chocolate Festival that I recommended it to everyone I knew, both online and off.  I had no idea that anyone would dream up a chocolate festival without chocolate!

Memorial Day Weekend in San Diego

With San Diego’s average gas prices hovering around $3.41/gallon, this might be a good weekend to stick around town.  Fortunately,  there’s plenty to do without ever leaving the county.
In addition to the usual attractions (SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, LegoLand), which I’d steer clear of on any holiday weekend, there are festivals, concerts, […]
