The San Diego Traveler

This week’s carnival includes so many U.S. cities, one might think that this was a national event. 

Of course I sent an article in from San Diego (about the California Surf Museum), but I wasn’t the only Californian to participate.  A writer from San Francisco wrote about The Castro (a San Francisco neighborhood), while philanthropy in Silicon Valley was the subject of another California blog.  These three articles were the most included from one state, so congratulations to all.

This week we also get to read two articles from New York – one about the daily migration of a Brooklyn New Yorker, and another about a Manhattan family’s efforts to “go green.”

Alli (one of my co-workers) wrote about a new playground being built in Chattanooga, TN.  (She even ended up on the local news talking about it earlier in the week!)

From Seattle, there’s a theatrical review of the award-winning play “Stop Kiss.”

Last of all, we can read about Roller Derby in New Orleans (LA).  I’ve been wanting to do a story about San Diego’s own Derby Dolls, so this one will probably inspire a future article for me.

Leaving the states, there’s only one article from Europe this week, centered in Larnaka Salt Lake Park, a natural refuge in Larnaka, Cyprus.

Two articles were included from Asia, one from my friend Che talking about the state of blogging in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and another about government subsidies for education in Mauritius (Indian Ocean).

Last of all, I was so excited to see that there was an article about traveling in Iran.   Sadly, it was a bittersweet memoire about traveling there in the 70’s, reminding us all of something we’re missing in the current political climate.
